KENNY UPTON

Kenneth Upton has over 33 years of property management experience. He began as a part-time Leasing Consultant for UDRT in college and worked his way up the corporate ladder overseeing portfolios of 2,500+ units that included new construction lease-ups as well as repositioning of existing assets. Kenneth worked at some of the nation’s largest REITs, such as Camden Property Trust and Gables Residential Trust, in addition to working for reputable 3rd party fee management companies such as RAM Partners.

Working at large REITs gives him extensive experience with third-party external audits from Deloitte and Touché to internal audits with monthly vital key controls. The knowledge and implementation of the Sarbanes Oxley Act ingrained Kenneth with the values of transparency, integrity and always telling owners the truth, even though it might not be the most pleasant experience, which has allowed him to gain the trust of owners and operators alike. His national and local knowledge of the real estate environment allows him to get ahead of market changes and ensure that rent growth is sustainable and management costs are kept to a minimum.

His experience in local markets including Las Vegas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville/St. Augustine, Denver, and Columbia SC affords him the ability to speak to clients about their assets’ current condition and the most optimal path to sustainable profitability. One of his most valuable assets is his ability to tap into those connections he has made throughout his career in multiple markets to research and understand current trends and market forecasts. For Kenneth, it’s not surprising how actively listening to owners and employees allows one to implement efficient operations on large and small properties.
